“The adoption of Written Declaration on the establishment of a maximum 8-hour journey limit for animals transported for the purpose of being slaughtered represents a major success for the protection of animals in Europe, and will induce a determining ethical treatments of animals and nature in our society. I consider this campaign as very valuable and hope for a quick implementation of the required measures.
Moreover, the 8 hours project illustrates the possibilities of participation of EU citizens by signing the petition, and of the European Parliament by adopting the Written Declaration. Through the support of over 1 million Europeans the aims of the initiative gained the necessary attention. The European Union is bases on the citizens of its Member States, therefore must take account of their concerns and claims. “8-hours” is an excellent example thereof.”
Nice statement, but what about the EU-Commission and John Dalli? He is disregarding the 8hours campaign and 1 Mio. EU-Citizens blatantly and denying his own words within less than two weeks. How can citizens have trust in this kind of EU-Politicians? In my spare time I have collected signatures for the campaign, because I thought, that when we reached 1 Mio. signatures wo would be heard. Obviously, I was wrong.
